Wheels and easels sitting idle?
Experience sites take a cut
Gift and experience platforms bring bookings but keep part of the price.
Midweek sessions sit half empty
Weekend tasters sell out while weekday courses struggle to fill.
Vouchers and no-shows
Unredeemed vouchers, late cancellations and empty wheels cost you money.
Instagram isn’t enough
Lovely photos get likes, but searchers still book the studio on the map.
Why it matters
Why local SEO matters for art and pottery studios
Most people book a creative class for a reason: a birthday, a hen party, a new hobby or a gift. They search for a studio close by — often for something specific, like a wheel taster, a life drawing class or a kids’ workshop in the school holidays — and compare photos, reviews and available dates before they book.
AI assistants are increasingly asked questions like “a fun pottery class for a hen party near me” or “a relaxed beginners’ watercolour course on weekday evenings”. They answer from the information they can find and check: your Google profile, your website, your reviews and mentions on local sites.
We help your studio appear for those searches with an optimised Google profile, consistent listings, clear pages for every class, party and course you run, and hand-built links from relevant arts, events and local websites.

Is it worth it?
What is a new student worth to you?
Enter what a typical new student is worth to your business — for example the value of the first job or booking, or what they spend with you in a year. We will show how many new students a month would cover each plan.
We have started you at £300, a typical figure for art & pottery classes. Change it to your own.
This is simple maths, not a prediction: results depend on your market, your reviews and how well you convert enquiries. Judge it on calls, bookings and enquiries over three to six months.

SEO for art and pottery classes: your questions
I run workshops in hired halls and cafés. Can I still appear on Google Maps?
It depends. Google’s guidelines say an ongoing class held at a location you don’t own or have the authority to represent isn’t eligible for a Business Profile, so a profile at a hired venue usually isn’t allowed. We’ll check what fits Google’s current guidelines for how you work, and where a profile isn’t possible we’ll focus on your website, events listings and directory listings so people can still find and book you.
Can you help us get more bookings directly rather than through experience sites?
Yes. Experience and gift platforms can bring useful bookings, but many people search for the studio itself once they’ve seen it. We build visibility for your own name, classes and parties, and make your website and booking page the easiest place to book, so more of the price stays with you.
We have more than one studio. Which plan do we need?
The Authority plan includes multi-location strategy, giving each studio its own optimised profile and visibility in its own area. If you run one studio with a busy timetable of classes, courses and parties, Growth is usually the better fit.
How soon might our taster sessions book up faster?
Fixes to your Google profile and class listings can start paying off within a few weeks. Moving up the map for “pottery class near me” and getting named in AI suggestions is gradual, usually three to six months depending on how many studios and workshops are nearby.
Starting well before the autumn helps you make the most of Christmas voucher sales, January hobby courses and spring hen party bookings.
Summer courses are quiet for us. Do we have to commit for a year?
No. The studio pays monthly and can cancel ahead of any upcoming billing date. Your Google profile, listings and the links we’ve earned are left in place.
Do customers have a 14-day right to cancel a class booked online?
Usually not for a class or workshop on a specific date. The Consumer Contracts Regulations exempt leisure services provided on a specific date or within a specific period from the 14-day cancellation right. Your own terms still matter, so set out clearly what happens if someone cancels, misses a session or wants to move their date, and keep any cancellation charges fair and proportionate.
Do tutors need a DBS check to run children’s classes?
It depends on what they do and how often. Teaching or supervising children regularly — for example every week, or on more than three days in a 30-day period — is usually regulated activity, which makes the tutor eligible for an enhanced DBS check with a children’s barred list check. Occasional one-off workshops may not meet that test. Parents expect to see checks and a clear safeguarding policy either way, so explain your approach on your website.
How should we handle gift vouchers?
Gift vouchers can be a big source of bookings, especially before Christmas and Mother’s Day. Put a clear expiry date, what the voucher covers and how to book on every voucher, send reminders before it runs out, and make redeeming it online simple. If you’re VAT-registered, ask your accountant how the VAT rules on vouchers apply to yours.
What are the best ways to fill quieter weekday sessions?
Weekday daytimes suit retired people, parents during school hours and shift workers, so a relaxed daytime course or a weekday taster at a slightly lower price can fill gaps. Team-building sessions for local employers, partnerships with care homes and wellbeing groups, and courses that run over several weeks also help balance a timetable that is busiest at weekends.
